Mission Statement:
The Worldview Project’s educational mission is to promote greater cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and engagement.

We accomplish our mission through the publication of The San Diego Participant Observer online magazine, the production of events such as the Harmony & Motion International Music and Dance Festival, and the Harmony in Action Cross-cultural Non Profits Fair. through collaborations with other organizations, and the web-based publication of resources and information about world cultures. Our latest initiative is the Cultures in the Classroom Curriculum for elementary school students to introduce young minds to the wondrous cultural diversity that defines what it means to be human.

Our organization’s greatest achievements and involvement are currently within our San Diego community, but we strive to have an impact on local, regional, and national levels.

 

Board Position Title:
Board Member – Equity-Focused Nonprofit Leadership

Overview of Opportunity:
The Worldview Project seeks dynamic, diverse candidates to join our board of directors. We are especially interested in individuals from historically underrepresented communities who bring a strong understanding of nonprofit governance and a passion for cross-cultural connection.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for candidates who have one more of the following:

Embrace our mission to promote greater cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and engagement.
Identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Middle Eastern/North African, Pacific Islander, or from other underrepresented communities
Have substantial experience serving on nonprofit boards
Understand and respect the responsibilities of fiduciary duty
Are skilled collaborators and communicators
Bring experience in one or more of the following:
Board leadership or committee chair roles
Community engagement or liaison work
Fundraising and donor development strategies

Board Member Expectations:

Attend 6 annual board meetings (remote and in-person hybrid)
Attend and assist with events.
Participate in committee work or task forces
Assist in fundraising strategy and donor cultivation
Serve as an ambassador for our mission in your networks
Contribute to the shaping of strategic and culturally inclusive organizational direction
