Treasurer Responsibilities
The Treasurer is a key leadership role on our board, responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization. Primary duties include:
Chairing the Finance Committee and ensuring sound financial governance
Reviewing and presenting financial statements to the board
Collaborating with the Executive Director on annual budgeting and forecasting
Ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting standards
Guiding and monitoring the organization’s financial policies and internal controls
Supporting annual audits and IRS 990 filings
Helping develop financial strategies to support our growth
Board Member Responsibilities (All Directors)
Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in Boston) and special sessions as needed
Serve on at least one committee (e.g., Finance, Governance, Development)
Act as ambassadors for Ineffable Films within your networks
Make a personal annual contribution (amount meaningful to you)
Support fundraising and partnership efforts
Term and Time Commitment
Term: 2 years, renewable up to 3 terms (6 years total)
Time Commitment: ~5–10 hours per month, including meetings, committee work, and occasional events
Meetings: Quarterly (virtually or in Boston); committee meetings as scheduled by committee leads
Financial Commitment
Board members are expected to contribute annually at a personally meaningful level and to support fundraising efforts.
No minimum donation is required; we value time, talent, and connections as equally vital contributions.
Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
Knowledge of 501(c)(3) compliance, budgeting, and financial reporting
CPA or financial certification preferred, but not required
Commitment to equity, youth development, and storytelling across cultures
Experience working with underrepresented communities or in the arts is a plus
