Who we are: As the nonprofit sector’s provider of professional development, Nonprofit Solutions provides relevant, effective, impactful programs, and services at an affordable price. Nonprofit Solutions has provided management assistance to nonprofits throughout Southern California and beyond since 1991, training more than 110,000 nonprofit practitioners to run hundreds of nonprofit organizations more effectively.

Making high-quality, training, and management assistance available and easily accessible for all nonprofits is and has always been the core business of Nonprofit Solutions. Our programs are designed for entry-level as well as executive directors. One of our goals is to support employee retention within our sector. We support both large and small, new and established organizations. Our members and clients are diverse, representing social service, museums, arts, education, and neighborhood-based health and human service providers.

Position: Board Director/Member

Reports to: Board Chair

Employment Status: Volunteer

Position Summary: As the Board Director/Member of the Board at Nonprofit Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the fiduciary and governing aspects of our organization. As an ambassador in the community, you will leverage your expertise and networks to advance the mission of Nonprofit Solutions: To cultivate nonprofit organizations through connection, innovation, and investment in the whole person.

Current skill sets needed include: Higher Education, Talent Management, Finance, and Marketing/Communications

The essential responsibilities of the Board of Directors include but are not limited to:

● Furthering the Mission: Actively contribute to the advancement of Nonprofit Solutions’ mission and purposes.

● CEO Performance Evaluation: Participate in selecting the employee and evaluating the performance of the chief executive officer.

● Strategic and Organizational Planning: Engage in strategic organizational planning to ensure long-term success.

● Network Building: Identify personal connections with nonprofits and for-profit businesses that can benefit their employees’ professional growth and enhance the retention rate.

● Financial Resource Identification: Fully engage in identifying and securing financial resources, contracts, and partnerships essential to Nonprofit Solutions’ mission.

● Resource Development: Actively participate in fundraising and/or

resource development efforts.

● Board Self-Assessment: Assess the board’s performance as the organization’s governing body.

● Advocacy: Serve as an active advocate for Nonprofit Solutions within the community.

● Financial Contribution: Provide a meaningful personal financial donation to Nonprofit Solutions annually (Give or get $500/year).

● Meeting Attendance: Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in monthly one-hour board meetings. We will be changing to bi-monthly in 2025.

● Committee Participation: Participate fully in one or more committee meetings quarterly with action items delegated at each meeting or contribute to a niche specialty that serves Nonprofit Solutions. (Committees include: Finance, Governance, Curriculum/Program, and Membership/Contracts, Marketing/Communications)
