Shyne's mission is the financial independence of survivors of trafficking and exploitation through small business development and entrepreneurship.
Shyne’s Board of Directors plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission to empower underserved communities, particularly survivors of trafficking, violence, and poverty. Board members work collaboratively with the Executive Director and staff to ensure the organization’s sustainability and impact, serving as ambassadors, advisors, advocates, and active supporters of Shyne’s growth.
Member Responsibilities
As a Shyne Board member, you will:
Support the Executive Director and staff, providing guidance and encouragement to achieve Shyne’s goals and highest standards of excellence.
Actively engage in fundraising efforts, including “give or get” contributions, individual solicitations, participation in events, or securing major gifts.
Monitor and evaluate Shyne’s progress, ensuring sufficient resources are available to meet organizational objectives.
Share Shyne’s story as an ambassador, advocate, and enthusiastic supporter, expanding awareness and building relationships that benefit the organization.
Serve on committees as needed and participate in strategic decision-making to help shape the organization’s vision and growth.
Adhere to Shyne’s bylaws and maintain ethical responsibility for its health and vitality.
Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the Executive Director to ensure leadership excellence while respecting staff management boundaries.
Member Term
Board members serve a term of three years.
Time Commitment
Average of 2 hours per week to support Shyne’s operations, strategy, and scaling efforts.
Attend quarterly virtual board meetings.
Financial Commitment
Contribute $360 annually ($30/month) as a “give or get” commitment to help sustain Shyne’s mission.
Meeting Schedule and Location
Quarterly virtual meetings, allowing flexibility for members to contribute from any location.
Qualifications
Shyne is seeking individuals who are:
Passionate about supporting underserved communities, particularly survivors of trafficking and exploitation.
Experienced in fundraising, strategic planning, or community engagement.
Well-connected and willing to leverage their networks to expand Shyne’s reach and impact.
Committed to the principles of equity, compassion, and collaboration.
