Traveling Stories empowers children to achieve their dreams through one-on-one literacy support and mentorship.

Expectations and Selection Criteria for Board of Directors Members

Members of the Traveling Stories Board of Directors will be chosen for their individual qualities and should possess demonstrated skills of leadership.  The desired qualifications for Board Members are:

  • Enthusiasm about Traveling Stories and conviction about its mission and purpose
  • Generosity with time, talent and treasure
  • Command of community confidence and respect
  • Special skills, knowledge and expertise that are needed by Traveling Storie
  • Ability to assess information and make decision

 

All Members of the Board of Directors are expected to:

  • Attend at least 2/3s of Board meetings
  • Support Traveling Stories by making a personally meaningful financial contribution
  • Actively invite personal contacts to support & attend Traveling Stories campaigns & special events
  • Complete the Volunteer onboarding and training process & volunteer as a substitute for the Virtual StoryTent a minimum of one time per year
  • Serve on at least one Board Committee and accept special assignments as requested
  • Advocate and represent Traveling Stories in the community

 

Board members are trustees of Traveling Stories. They are the link between the community and the organization and the key to Traveling Stories’ long-term success.
