Volunteer Treasurer – Board of Directors

Position: Treasurer (Volunteer)

Reports To: Board of Directors

Location: Remote / Flexible

Time Commitment: Minimum 2 board meetings per year; occasional review of financial statements (approx. 6-12 hours/year)

Position Summary

The Treasurer serves as a member of the Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing the financial health of CoverSix. This is a volunteer position with minimal time commitment, ideal for a finance professional or someone with experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial oversight who wishes to support veterans and their families. Veterans are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Provide oversight of the organization’s financial affairs.
Review and approve annual budgets and periodic financial statements.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, nonprofit regulations, and reporting requirements.

Advise the Board on financial matters and financial policy.
Participate in at least two board meetings per year (remote or in-person).

Collaborate with staff, accountants, or other volunteers handling day-to-day bookkeeping.

Qualifications

Experience in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.

Understanding of nonprofit financial management or willingness to learn.

Commitment to the mission of CoverSix.

Veterans highly preferred.
Ability to review and analyze financial statements.
Comfortable with remote collaboration (email, Zoom, cloud-based documents).
