The Center for World Music is a San Diego organization fostering intercultural awareness through the world’s performing arts traditions. We create engaging educational and performance opportunities to strengthen the bonds that make us one community. We envision a world that values diverse performing arts traditions and embraces intercultural understanding, empathy, and respect.

The Treasurer of the Center for World Music (CWM) is a member of its Board of Directors, which meets four times a year. The Treasurer is responsible for the financial management and oversight of the Center for World Music, which includes (1) working with the Board President and Executive Director to establish an annual organizational budget; (2) monitoring the work of the CWM’s bookkeeper; (3) presenting financial reports at each quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors and a year-end report; (4) reviewing the CWM’s tax returns (currently prepared by a Board member) and any audits; and (5) providing strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, and program directors to achieve the CWM’s short- and long-term goals.

Time Requirements
The Treasure will work .5 to 5 hours per month. This includes the four quarterly hybrid meetings that are two hours long.

Experience Level
Government grant requirements guide our recruitment.  At a minimum, we are looking for someone with 5-10 years of experience and any combo of the following: financial management experience; formal education in accounting, finances, or related field; formal credentialing (CPA); and/or reasonably transferable qualifications.

Financial Commitment
This is a 100% giving board with the expectation of an annual donation of $1,000.
