Are you driven by a passion for youth empowerment, education, and creating a lasting global impact? Since 2011, NERDS RULE INC. has been committed to uplifting youth and underserved communities around the world—and now, we’re looking for dedicated, visionary, and community-focused leaders to join our Board of Directors for a 2-year volunteer term.

Below is everything you need to know about the role and how to get involved.

🧭 Board Member Responsibilities
Governance & Strategic Oversight

Attend quarterly board meetings to assess progress toward strategic goals.
Review and approve organizational policies, annual budgets, and long-term plans.
Committee Participation

Serve on at least one standing committee (Finance, Governance, Development, or Programs).
Join monthly committee meetings (virtual or in-person, as needed).
Ambassadorship & Advocacy

Act as a spokesperson for NERDS RULE INC. in your community and professional circles.
Represent the organization at key events, networking engagements, and partner meetings.
Accountability & Impact Monitoring

Review financial documents and compliance materials.
Help evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and initiatives.

⏳ Term & Time Commitment
Term Length:

Two (2) years with the opportunity to renew after the initial term.
Estimated Time Involvement:

Quarterly Board Meetings: 4 per year, 2–3 hours each (virtual or in-person)
Committee Meetings: 1 per month, 1–1.5 hours
Events/Site Visits: 2–4 per year, 3–5 hours each
Review & Prep Time: ~2–3 hours/month reviewing materials, reports, and proposals

🗓️ Meeting Schedule & Location
Onboarding & Training:

Begin with a 2-day intensive virtual orientation led by The Nonprofit Institute at USD, followed by an in-person training session (location and date TBD).
Ongoing Meetings:

Board Meetings: Quarterly, hybrid format (Zoom and rotating in-person locations)
Committee Calls: Monthly, virtual (scheduled by committee)
Annual Retreat: 2-day, in-person strategic planning session

👥 Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, especially those with skills or experience in:

Nonprofit Leadership – Board or executive-level experience
Fundraising & Development – Success in securing grants, donations, or sponsorships
Marketing & Communications – Branding, social media, or public relations expertise
Education & Youth Services – Background in education, youth leadership, or mental health
Finance & Legal – Expertise in financial oversight, audits, or nonprofit law
