Website Village Up San Diego
To improve access and equity by coordinating resources across the San Diego entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Startups founded by women, people of color, and individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ often struggle to obtain funding or support. Our mission is to discover and develop pathways to help entrepreneurs from underserved communities tap into the tech industry and access the resources and connections they need to succeed. We focus on building a coalition of affinity groups and passionate individuals to champion diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the startup ecosystem.
Our Board Of Directors is made up of forward-looking founders, strategists, thought leaders, investors, and advocates for diversity on a mission to break barriers in the tech startup and innovation community. We are committed to fostering a board that is diverse in all areas, and inclusive in how we approach strategic decisions. We are also committed to having a lot of fun, and not taking ourselves too seriously.
Board members meet virtually for one hour per month, with roughly 2-3 hours of work between meetings (responding to emails, identifying additional partners or forging relationships, supporting grant proposals, etc.). We also typically meet in person 2X a year for 3-4 hour strategy sessions. We encourage Board members to attend our events, which include mixers, panels with founders, and workshops. Our bylaws require Board members to donate a minimum of $100 to the organization annually. Terms are for three years.
